Oralsnap

Dental photo and NFC asset tracking

Oralsnap gives dental practices one place to keep patient case photos organized and one way to track the physical items and equipment in the practice. We built an Android photo app, a Flutter app for NFC-tagged assets, and the public site that brings them together.

The challenge

Dental practices need an organized way to store patient case photos and keep track of physical assets and tools, two problems that usually end up solved with loose folders, sticky notes, or nothing at all. Oralsnap is one product that answers both: a photo app purpose-built for case documentation, and a tagging system that turns every tracked item into something staff can scan and look up instantly.

Who uses it

Practice staff (photos)
Add and edit patients, capture filtered case photos, and browse the patient photo gallery.
Practice staff (assets)
Write NFC tags onto items, scan tags to pull up an item's history, and manage the subscription paywall.

What we built

We built an Android app for capturing and filtering patient case photos (add/edit patient, camera with filters, gallery), and a separate Flutter app that lets staff write NFC tags, scan them to open an item's history, and manage subscriptions through a paywall. Both share sign-in, OTP verification and biometric unlock, and a public landing site.

  • Patient case photos

Add or edit a patient record and capture case photos against it with the in-app camera.

  • Camera filters

Apply filters while capturing case photos for clearer or more consistent documentation.

  • Photo gallery

Browse a patient's case photos in a dedicated gallery view.

  • NFC tag writing

Write an NDEF URI record to a physical NFC tag to link it to an item in the system.

  • NFC scan and history

Scan a tagged item to open its detail screen and see its recorded history.

  • Subscription paywall

Gates the NFC tracker app behind a subscription managed through RevenueCat.

  • Shared sign-in

OTP verification and biometric unlock protect both apps' sign-in.

  • Marketing landing page

A public site introduces Oralsnap and its two apps to prospective practices.

How it works

  1. Staff sign in with OTP verification, then unlock the app with biometrics on return visits.
  2. In the photo app, staff add a patient and capture case photos with camera filters.
  3. Photos land in the patient's gallery for later reference.
  4. In the NFC app, staff write a tag to a physical item once, linking it to a record.
  5. Later, scanning that tag opens the item's detail screen and history instantly.

Every part of the product

  • Android photo app

    Kotlin

Captures and organizes patient case photos with filters and a gallery.

  • Flutter NFC tracker app

    Flutter, NFC/NDEF

Writes and scans NFC tags on physical items and shows each item's history behind a paywall.

  • Marketing landing page

    HTML/CSS

Public site introducing Oralsnap to dental practices.

How it’s built

Oralsnap is one product split across two apps because photo capture and NFC asset tracking are different workflows for different moments in a practice's day, but both share sign-in: OTP verification plus biometric unlock, so staff only authenticate once per flow type. The NFC app writes standard NDEF URI records to tags, which keeps the tags readable by any NFC reader and ties each physical scan straight to an item record over a simple lookup rather than a custom protocol. The tracker app's subscription is handled through RevenueCat rather than a custom billing system.

Questions about Oralsnap

What does Oralsnap do?

Oralsnap is a product Venzpire built for dental practices that combines an Android app for organizing patient case photos with a Flutter app for tracking physical items and equipment using NFC tags, plus a public landing site.

Which platforms does Oralsnap run on?

Oralsnap ships as a native Android app (Kotlin) for case photos and a separate Flutter app for NFC asset tracking, both built by Venzpire, with a marketing landing page shared across the two.

How does the NFC tracking in Oralsnap work?

Staff write an NDEF URI tag to a physical item once using the Flutter app Venzpire built. Scanning that tag later opens the item's detail screen and history instantly, and the tracking features sit behind a subscription managed through RevenueCat.
