Nexmi
AI task and memory assistant
Nexmi turns a single plain-language sentence into a tracked task with a deadline, dependencies and a sensible reminder time. It started as a web app and is now an installable Android app, coming soon.

The challenge
People jot tasks down in free text, but most to-do apps make you fill in a form: pick a date, set a priority, choose a category. Nexmi needed to read a sentence like a person would, work out what has to happen first and when it's actually due, and then stay quiet until a reminder will genuinely help. The hard part is doing that without the model ever inventing a task, a deadline or a dependency that isn't really there.
Who uses it
- Individual user
- Writes tasks as plain sentences, lets Nexmi infer deadlines and dependencies, and gets reminders tuned to quiet hours.
- Returning user
- Asks the "what am I forgetting" assistant to surface tasks and dependencies that are at risk of being missed.
What we built
The language model handles understanding; scoring, scheduling and business rules live in deterministic code, so the product never invents tasks or times. It is built as a Flutter Android app with push notifications, quiet hours and notification-fatigue limits, backed by a PHP API with scheduled reminder delivery.
Natural-language task capture
Type or speak a task as a normal sentence; Nexmi extracts the task, due date and any steps that must happen first.
Deterministic scheduling
Once the model extracts the facts, scoring, scheduling and reminder timing run in fixed business-rule code, not the model.
Dependency detection
Identifies when one task blocks another so reminders don't fire for work that can't start yet.
Notification-fatigue limits
Caps how many reminders reach you and respects quiet hours, so pushes stay useful instead of constant.
"What am I forgetting" assistant
An on-demand check that reviews open tasks and dependencies and flags what's at risk of slipping.
Schema-checked AI output
Every model response is validated against a strict schema before it's trusted, with a deterministic fallback if it fails.
Push notifications
Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers reminders to the Android app on a cron-driven schedule.
How it works
- Type a task as a plain sentence in the Android app.
- The AI service extracts the task, deadline, dependencies and importance, validated against a schema.
- The deterministic core schedules the task and works out when a reminder will actually help.
- A cron job delivers the push notification through Firebase Cloud Messaging at the right time, inside quiet hours and fatigue limits.
- The user can ask "what am I forgetting" at any time to review tasks at risk.
Where the AI fits
Nexmi uses the OpenAI API to read a plain-language task sentence and extract its deadline, dependencies and importance. The model's output is strictly a parsing step: every response is validated against a schema before anything happens with it, and if the call fails or the response doesn't match, the system falls back to a deterministic path instead of guessing. Scoring, scheduling and the actual reminder timing all run in fixed business-rule code, not the model, so the product never invents a task or a time that wasn't in what the user wrote.
- OpenAI API for task extraction, deadline/dependency detection and importance classification
- Schema validation on every model response before it's used
- Deterministic fallback when the AI call fails or output is invalid
- "What am I forgetting" assistant built on the same extraction pipeline
Every part of the product
Android app
Flutter
The installable client where users capture tasks, see their list and receive reminders.
PHP JSON API
PHP
Backend that runs the AI extraction, deterministic scheduling and reminder logic.
Cron reminder delivery
PHP cron
Scheduled job that checks due reminders and pushes them through FCM at the right moment.
How it’s built
The core design choice was splitting understanding from decisions: the language model only turns a sentence into structured facts, and a separate deterministic layer decides what to schedule and when to remind. That keeps the product predictable even though its input parsing is AI-driven. It shipped first as a web app, then moved to an installable Android app built with Flutter, backed by a PHP JSON API. Reminder delivery runs on a cron job through Firebase Cloud Messaging, with quiet hours and notification-fatigue limits built into the scheduling rules so reminders stay useful rather than constant.

Questions about Nexmi
What does Nexmi do?
Nexmi is an AI task and memory assistant built by Venzpire. You write a task as a plain sentence, and it works out the deadline, what has to happen first, and when a reminder will actually be useful, rather than making you fill in a form.
Which platforms does Nexmi run on?
Nexmi is an installable Android app built with Flutter, backed by a PHP JSON API. It started as a web app before Venzpire moved it to the Android client with push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging.
How does Nexmi use AI?
Nexmi uses the OpenAI API to read a task sentence and extract its deadline, dependencies and importance. Every model response is checked against a schema, and if it fails, Nexmi falls back to deterministic logic, so the AI only parses input, it never invents tasks or times on its own.
