OTW
On-demand pickup and delivery platform
OTW, short for On The Way, is a two-sided on-demand pickup and delivery platform. A customer app lets people set a pickup and delivery address and send a parcel, while a matching rider app lets independent couriers accept and deliver those orders.

The challenge
Pairing someone who needs a parcel picked up and dropped off with an available courier needs two apps that agree on the same order, in real time, from two very different points of view: a customer choosing addresses and goods type, and a rider accepting and completing jobs on the move. Both needed phone-based sign-in and reliable order notifications without duplicating the underlying data model.
Who uses it
- Customers
- Set a pickup and delivery address, choose a goods type, and track their order through delivery.
- Riders
- Sign in by OTP, see incoming orders, accept them, and manage delivery through completion.
What we built
In the customer app, users set a pickup address and a delivery address, pick a goods type, review the order, and track it with push notifications. The matching rider app lets couriers sign in by OTP, see incoming orders, and manage order details through to delivery. Both apps share the same order and address data model.
Pickup and delivery addresses
Customers set both ends of the trip before placing an order.
Goods type selection
Customers pick what kind of goods they are sending as part of the order.
Order review and tracking
Customers review the order before confirming and track it with push notifications afterward.
OTP rider sign-in
Riders verify sign-in with a one-time password sent to their phone.
Incoming order list
Riders see new orders as they come in and accept the ones they can take.
Order management
Riders manage an accepted order's details through to delivery.
Push notifications
Firebase Cloud Messaging keeps both sides updated as an order's status changes.
How it works
- Customer sets a pickup address and a delivery address.
- Customer picks a goods type and reviews the order.
- Customer confirms the order, which becomes visible to riders.
- Rider signs in by OTP, sees the incoming order, and accepts it.
- Rider manages the order through to delivery while the customer tracks it via push notifications.
Every part of the product
Customer app (OTWApp)
Kotlin/Java
Lets customers set addresses, place an order and track delivery.
Rider app (OTWRiderApp)
Kotlin/Java
Lets riders sign in, see incoming orders and manage deliveries.
How it’s built
Both apps use Google Maps and the Maps Android utilities for address selection and route display, and share the same order and address data model so an order placed in the customer app appears consistently in the rider app. Firebase handles authentication and Cloud Messaging for OTP sign-in and order notifications on both sides, keeping the two apps synchronized through a single backend without each app needing its own copy of the order logic.

Questions about OTW
What does OTW do?
OTW, short for On The Way, is a two-sided delivery platform where customers set a pickup and delivery address and send a parcel through a customer app, and independent riders accept and deliver those orders through a matching rider app. Venzpire built both apps.
Which platforms does OTW run on?
OTW is built as two native Android apps, a customer app and a separate rider app, that share the same order and address data model. Venzpire built both for the platform.
How do OTW riders get notified of new orders?
OTW riders sign in by OTP and see incoming orders in the rider app, with Firebase Cloud Messaging push notifications keeping both the customer and rider apps updated as an order moves through pickup to delivery. Venzpire built this notification flow.
