PetCare

Pet health records with NFC tag scanning

PetCare links a pet's health history to a physical NFC tag on its collar. Owners set up a profile and scan the tag to attach it, then book appointments and track vaccinations from their phone, while clinic staff manage the same record from a web admin panel.

The challenge

Pet owners and vet staff had no shared, scannable record of a pet's health history. Appointments, vaccinations and case notes lived in separate paper files or a clinic's own system, so a new vet or a traveling owner had no quick way to see a pet's history. PetCare gives each pet a profile tied to a physical NFC tag, so scanning the collar opens the record directly.

Who uses it

Pet owners
Set up a pet profile, scan the NFC tag to attach it, book appointments and view vaccination history on Android.
Doctors
Sign up, log in and manage their own case list, schedule and case details through the Android app.
Clinic admin
Manage doctors, appointments, vaccinations, medicines, pets, users and incoming tag requests from the web panel.

What we built

We built an Android app where owners set up a pet profile, scan an NFC tag to attach it to the pet, and book appointments, plus a PHP/Bootstrap admin panel for clinics to manage doctors, appointments, vaccinations, medicines and incoming tag requests. A separate API layer serves both the app and the admin.

  • NFC tag scanning

Scanning a pet's collar tag opens its profile directly, linking a physical tag to a digital record.

  • Pet profile setup

Owners create a profile for each pet and submit tag requests that clinic staff approve.

  • Appointment booking

Owners book appointments with doctors; doctors see their case list and schedule in the app.

  • Vaccination tracking

Clinic staff log vaccinations and medicines against each pet's record.

  • Doctor accounts

Doctors sign up with OTP verification and manage their own case details and schedule.

  • Tag request queue

The admin panel lists incoming NFC tag requests for staff to review and fulfill.

  • Banner management

Admins manage promotional banners shown to users and doctors in the app.

How it works

  1. Owner creates an account and sets up a pet profile in the Android app.
  2. Owner requests an NFC tag, which clinic staff approve in the admin panel.
  3. Owner scans the tag to attach it to the pet, linking the physical collar tag to the record.
  4. Owner books an appointment with a doctor; the doctor sees it in their case list.
  5. Clinic staff log vaccinations and medicines against the pet after the visit.

Every part of the product

  • Android app

    Java, Firebase

The app pet owners and doctors use to manage profiles, scan tags, book appointments and track vaccinations.

  • Admin panel

    PHP, Bootstrap

Clinic staff manage doctors, appointments, vaccinations, medicines, pets, users and tag requests.

  • REST API

    PHP

Separate API layers serve the mobile app and the admin panel over a shared database.

How it’s built

The product splits into an Android app for owners and doctors, a PHP/Bootstrap admin panel for clinic staff, and separate REST API layers for the mobile and admin sides, all against one database. The app uses Firebase for authentication, analytics and crash reporting, OTP flows for both owner and doctor sign-up, and native NFC scanning to read a tag and look up the matching pet. The admin side keeps doctors, appointments, vaccinations, medicines and tag requests as distinct modules so clinic staff can manage each independently.

Questions about PetCare

What does PetCare do?

PetCare is a pet health records product Venzpire built: an Android app where owners set up a pet profile and scan an NFC collar tag to attach it, book appointments and track vaccinations, paired with a PHP admin panel where clinic staff manage doctors, appointments, vaccinations, medicines and tag requests.

How does PetCare's NFC tag scanning work?

Which platforms does PetCare run on?

PetCare is an Android app for pet owners and doctors, paired with a PHP and Bootstrap web admin panel for clinic staff, both served by REST APIs that Venzpire built on a shared database.
